Siblings Respond to Their Foster Family's Love
About
a year ago, a sibling set of three children came into foster
care with ECFA due to parental neglect and abandonment.
The family had been struggling with mental health problems,
inadequate employment and homelessness. Fortunately, we
had a licensed foster couple who was prepared to care for
all three children. Their foster care caseworker, Melissa
says “the foster parents are amazing and are doing a spectacular
job!”
The oldest child is in grade school and has been suffering from nightmares. However, he has learned to depend upon God as his strength and protector. Over time, the nightmares have steadily decreased in intensity and frequency. The foster parents take time to read the Bible to the children daily. All three kids love going to church and Vacation Bible School and reading their children’s Bibles. Recently, they returned from a week at Royal Family Kids Camp, which was a very positive experience for them. According to their foster parents, they had tons of fun, learned many Bible songs, and still are excited about sharing their experiences at camp.
Melissa says that the oldest boy responds very well to the structure and discipline in the home. This has been a very positive experience for him and he wants to remain with his foster parents. His younger sister still misses her mom and is struggling with being separated from her. However, she is responding well to the structure and unconditional love her foster parents provide. They are great at giving the children stability, consistency and boundaries. They are also helping her catch up academically since she has been so far behind her peers.
The youngest girl is well-adjusted to being in the foster home. She was also behind academically, but over the past year has completely caught up with her classmates. She has made some good friends in the neighborhood and has developed a strong sense of self-confidence.
We are grateful for compassionate and caring foster families who make all the difference for foster children who have suffered many losses and have so many needs. We also greatly appreciate your investment in the work we do to help young ones learn that God loves them and has a wonderful plan for their lives.
