Robbie Finds His Forever Family

When we hear about Chinese adoptions, we usually think about baby girls. However, one of ECFA’s couples responded to the need for an adoptive family for a little one year old boy who was abandoned at an orphanage. “Robbie” has special health needs which require multiple surgeries and ongoing medical treatment which would not be available to him in his home country. Since his adoptive parents already have a pre-school age boy, they were drawn to this little guy. They were willing to travel all the way to China and to stay for two weeks while the necessary arrangements could be made for Robbie’s adoption. Only then were they able to return to America.

Robbie has already had one successful surgery and he is responding very well to the love and nurturing of his adoptive family. His adoption worker describes him as being “smiley with the biggest cheeks ever.” He can also be curious, somewhat shy, and a little stubborn at times. He has been with his adoptive family for several months and is especially attached to his older brother. Robbie’s face lights up whenever he comes into the room. Because of his desire to keep up with his big brother, Robbie is also improving his ability to walk, run, and play.

Robbie’s adoptive mom has limited her working hours to part-time and his dad is able to support the family with his full-time job. They are totally committed to the well-being of both of their boys and spend lots of time with them.
