The cycle of child abuse and neglect can be stopped, and child abuse and neglect can be prevented! Prevention and intervention services give families the tools they need to overcome, succeed, and thrive.

Pregnancy Support Services staff come alongside moms and their families during their pregnancy and until their child is at least 6 months old. Many moms and dads we serve have their own history of trauma and are often facing a variety of challenges such as substance abuse, mental health concerns, domestic violence, unstable housing, etc. The workers use the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum to help the moms and dads they serve learn how to parent in a healthy and loving manner. Topics such as healthy relationships, healthy communication, positive discipline, etc., are discussed in depth with our parents. ECFA’s greatest desire is for the families being served to thrive and for their children to grow up and become healthy adults.

Intact Family Services staff work with families to help prevent future abuse or neglect from happening. It is possible to break the cycle of abuse and neglect if the right services and supports are put in place. Children who are mistreated perpetuate a culture of violence that affects all of society. Therefore, the services being rendered by ECFA help break the cycle of violence; positively impacting the families being served and our communities. Services are provided through a trauma-focused lens, as most of the parents being served were also abused or neglected as children. They need an opportunity to heal from their own trauma, while learning new and healthy ways of communicating, interacting, and parenting.

People can change. Patterns of negative behaviors can be broken. People can heal. Our loving Heavenly Father will open His arms to anyone who wants to be in relationship with Him. No one is too broken. How grateful we are for staff who love those who society may deem as unlovable; who others may see as having no hope. We know otherwise.

If you would like to help stop or prevent the cycle of abuse and neglect, please prayerfully consider partnering with us today! To give, please visit www.evancfa.org/ donate.
